The Meadowland series.
All of my Linocuts for the 'Meadowland' series derive from the pages of my sketchbook, and I hope to retain the spontaneity of these rapid sketches in the cutting of the blocks. I find the process of relief printing incredibly exciting and love the quality that they bring to the subject, especially when pressed by hand, there is a delightful variation in the depth and shading, making each piece in the series a truly individual work of art. I hand press the prints using a simple Japanese bamboo baren, adding even more variety to the effect and feel.

'Woodlands Edge'
Driving through Thetford forest I slowed the car down, to watch these two little Muntjac deer on the verge of the busy road.
They watched me carefully, but remained where they stood, as I quickly scribbled them down in my 'ever present ' sketchbook.

Reflections on a Chinese Screen
My current series is called 'Reflections on a Chinese Screen'. This was inspired by my work restoring and designing Chinoiserie boxes, furniture, mirrors and other objects. These are my own interpretations of that work.
I find tranquility and fragility in the evocative motifs , and I wanted to translate this quality through a new medium. The titles of the individual pieces may not be instantly apparent but they reflect the emotions that the subject evokes within me.
