artist statement
'I remember as a child, creeping up to the ancient barn and peering through the gaps in the heavy, wooden door. I could see the dark mass of his great body and hear his cavernous breathing. I lay my hands on the rough wood and wait for him to come close...thus my fascination began.......my solicitude, my respect.'
Mankind has often viewed the bull as a symbol of strength, something that when, overpowered and devoured, confers his strength upon his self-perceived conqueror. I paint the might and the majesty of the bull as he is naturally.... at ease and at peace.
