This charcoal study of a bull, was drawn from life near my Norwich studio. I am fortunate to have such a lovely herd of English Longhorns and other cattle living close by. To sit in the field with these huge animals is a privilege and an awesome experience. I grew up with bulls and even rode one as a child. The drawing is framed in black with a natural mount, unframed size is 70 x 55 cm.
From my artist statement "I feel the bull is usually viewed as a symbol of strength, something that when overpowered and devoured, confers it’s strength upon it’s self-perceived conqueror. I paint the might and the majesty of the bull as he is naturally, at ease and at peace."
